Other Frequently Asked Questions:

How do I sign up?
Registration is available online at www.starkvilleregistration.com from October 2nd – November 3rd.

How do I find out what team my child is on?    In order to ensure proper communication between parents and coaches, PLEASE provide a current/working telephone number AND email address on your child’s registration form.  Coaches are asked to initially establish contact by telephone.  Coaches will call his/her team members within 72 hours of receiving his/her roster (Approximately completed on December 3rd).  If you do not get a phone call from a coach within 72 hours of December 3rd, you may contact our office at 662-323-2294 to inquire about your child’s placement on a team.

How often will my child have practice?  SPRD will schedule each team two (2) forty-five (45) minute practices on a designated half-court at the Sportsplex prior to the first game of the season. Practices are not permitted on the same day as scheduled games, unless the game was postponed on that day. No practices will be permitted on Sunday’s before 1 pm, or on Wednesday’s after 5 pm. To schedule a practice, which is not already scheduled for you by SPRD, you must call William Pochop (662-323-2294) no more than a week in advance of your desired practice time. A team is not to participate in an organized basketball game or practice more than 2 times in one week. Examples: If a team has two games scheduled for the week, they are not permitted to host a practice in addition to games in that week; however, if a team only has one game in a given week, that team is permitted to schedule one practice if the space is available.
Pricing for Starkville Youth Basketball Team Practices in the Sportsplex Gym:
– The first two (2) practices that are scheduled by SPRD are FREE to your team.
– ALL additional practices that are individually scheduled will be available for $1 per player for a half-court reservation of 45 minutes.
– Coaches are responsible for checking in at the front desk for all practices.

When will my child receive his/her uniform?  SPRD will have uniform shirts for the coach to pick up before the first scheduled game.  Typically, coaches pick up his/her team uniforms the day of the first scheduled game and will issue shirts (according to size indicated during registration) prior to game time on the first game day.  SPRD only provides uniform tops (dri-fit, short-sleeved/sleeveless shirt).  We do not require a certain color uniform bottom; however, it is typical for teams to decide amongst themselves what color/style shorts to wear as part of the uniform.

What do I do if my child’s shirt does not fit?  Our first suggestion is to make sure you were issued the size that was ordered for your child (which will be reflected on the team roster that is issued to the coach).  Next, see if someone on your child’s team could possibly trade in order to fulfill the needs of a uniform for each child.  Better a shirt be too big than too small.  Lastly, if you are still dissatisfied with your child’s uniform shirt, please contact our office with your child’s name, team name, and desired size at 662-323-2294.  Please allow up to 14 business days for a replacement shirt to arrive.  We strongly urge that you make absolute certain of the size your child will need and place that size on your registration form.

How do the rules differ among age divisions? SPRD has revised the rules and regulations for the youth basketball program.  We strongly suggest you make yourself familiar with these rules and regulations. You may download a copy of the current rules and regulations by clicking HERE.
